Sometimes, conversations skim the surface. Intentionally so.
Or perhaps it’s just because we’re busy skimming out of habit, and forget to slow.
I’ve just returned from 4 days at Hutchmoot UK [hutchmootuk.com], where creative folk from a broad background joined to talk to faith and art and discover intersections where good conversation blooms. Thank you to Alex, Ruth, Heather, Brittany, Rob, Rachel and an array of other passionate, talented people who helped me reassert my intent to seek more beauty and express it more beautifully.
Every moment inspired
Us rabbits sit with our pipes in our shared space,
like there’s nothing that might move us unless we acquiesce,
as if we’ve no better things to do than do exactly what we’re doing
and we’re doing what we do best.
We explore the next word, the next note, the next sweep of the pen,
the next throw of the clay and the colour chosen to inject
into the next page, the next dye, the next stitch, beat, thread, chapter, adventure
that our maker has placed in our minds eye and it’s there that we realise
that in every moment together we’re carefully holding a myriad of holy inspirations
and contemplating their ordering so that beauty may abound
so that our beautiful God may breath out yet more of the Creation.
And now I’m even more committed to seeking out more creative communities so that more beauty may abound.
Less skiming, more seeking.
